2018 was another remarkable year for our industry, empowered consumers exercising their personalised choices within the converging environment of the 4th industrial revolution we are now firmly in.

More than ever we need to take inspiration from the latest and best practice in the marketplace and The Connies 2018 showcased and celebrated such remarkable work.

We invited all practitioners with a stake in delivering outstanding solutions for the connected consumer to select from the categories below that best match your contribution to enter this year’s awards.

Mark Cross

A leading practitioner of behaviour change, evaluation and change management for business and marketing challenges with a track record in both the public and private sectors. Mark has recently completed a major project on Security behaviours for the Cabinet Office, and continues to work across sectors with projects in the media and tech sectors including applying cognitive intelligence in the online environment. He has worked in government as the COI’s Communications Planning Director – where he led and developed government’s strategic planning, evaluation and media capability. Mark is a Fellow of the IPA, having worked for twenty five years in the agency sector, including at the PHD Group, sitting on the IPA’s Media Futures Group for a number of years and representing the IPA as a BARB board director. He also helped the IPA launch and establish the IPA TouchPoints Survey an is a visiting tutor at the BPP University.

Before joining Mediatel in 2005, she was Research Manager at The Allmond Partnership media agency, having spent several years prior to that in retail and change management.

Tracey Follows

Founder, Futuremade

Tracey is a highly respected strategist and marketer, with over 20 years’ experience working in agencies and as a client. Her work in telecoms, technology, retail and media has helped to shape the future strategies of brands such as T-Mobile, BT, O2, easyJet and John Lewis. While chief strategy officer at JWT, Tracey established planning foresight as a new discipline. Before joining JWT she was executive planning director at VCCP, planning director at Lowe, head of consumer marketing at BT, and international advertising manager at T-Mobile. She left advertising to retrain as a futurist at the University of Houston and set up her own futures consultancy, working with clients such as Google, Telefonica, Unmade and several major advertising agencies. She is Marketing magazine’s resident futures columnist,and she writes and speaks extensively on the need for long-term strategies for business. She is a member of the Association of Professional Futurists and the World Future Society. She was also chair of the Account Planning Group in 2014 and 2015, and is the co-author of 98% Pure Potato, a book about the origins of advertising account planning. In early 2018 Tracey was also appointed the Head of Strategy at WIRED Consulting

Ben has written many White Papers on content distribution and agility that intertwine a business and technology narrative. He manages communications for the Ultra HD Forum explaining innovation in next generation entertainment. For the last year Ben has been working on leveraging blockchain technology for multiple markets. He lives in Paris and his social media name is nebul2.

William Cooper

Previously, as head of interactive at BBC Broadcast, William operationally managed the successful launch and delivery of landmark interactive services on satellite, terrestrial and cable television across multiple channels and territories and oversaw the exponential growth of the BBC’s online services. William began his career as a broadcast journalist and has over 25 years of professional experience working in the television, video and digital media. He has a PhD in Communications from the Institute of Communications Studies at Leeds University, where he was one of their first researchers, specializing in ‘video literacy’. William is internationally recognised as a leading independent analyst and commentator on the television and online video sector. He is a regular judge of international industry awards and competitions, and has been producer, chair and speaker at over a hundred international conferences. He publishes the informitv Multiscreen Index, tracking trends in television services worldwide. He is also editor of the influential Connected Vision newsletter, which is available as a free subscription from informitv.com.
