A new addition to the events calendar, Mediatel's first Out-Of-Home Summit brings together the key players in UK's OOH industry. These experts will be sharing their views on the industry's latest developments and challenges, and OOH's role in the media landscape.

Timings: 2pm - 6pm

Tickets are £295 for Out-of-Home owners and Out-of-Home agencies, maximum of 3 tickets per company.

Former Campaign editor and editorial director, Dominic Mills writes the weekly 'Mills on Monday' column for Mediatel's Newsline. He regularly chairs conferences for Mediatel and other organisations, including ISBA and the IAB, hosts video shows, and is a consultant editor for the IPA and the Content Marketing Association. He advises agencies and various industry bodies, and occasionally works with content agencies on pitches. In previous lives (and before his beard went grey), he was once a financial journalist for Euromoney and then Reuters. He has also been a group editor for Redwood, and wrote a weekly column on advertising and media for the Daily Telegraph.

Simon Valcarcel

Head of Creative and Media, O2

Simon Valcarcel is a Spurs, Oasis and Star Wars fan who works for O2 as Head of Creative and Media, in that order. While he waits for Oasis to reform, Simon defines and leads the through-the-line creative and media strategy for O2. Before O2 and when Oasis were still together, he worked at TalkTalk for five years. Building the brand into a household name through The X-Factor sponsorship and working with Disney on one of his all-time favourite Pixar films, WALL-E. Passionate about brilliant creative, finding out what makes customers tick and innovation, Simon is also a fellow of The Marketing Society and part of ISBA’s Audio Visual Group.

Craig Mawdsley

Joint Chief Strategy Officer, AMV BBDO

Craig has the best job in the world – running AMV BBDO’s strategic output, in partnership with Bridget Angear. As if to prove that enjoying your job makes you good at it, Craig and Bridget have been named London’s #1 strategists five times in the past 6 years (a unique achievement), as well as building the AMV strategy department to multiple Cannes Effectiveness Grand Prix’s, IPA Effectiveness Agency of the year and APG Creative Strategy Agency of the year awards. Craig began with a Business degree from Bath University and then a 10 year stint at Saatchi & Saatchi, working on Visa, Sony, T-Mobile, Norwich Union and P&G. For the last 13 years at AMV, Craig has led the strategy on Sainsbury’s, The National Lottery, The Economist, EDF Energy, Eurostar, The Met Police, Nutmeg, Dulux, Royal Mail, Mercedes, Dixons Retail Group and Cancer Research UK. Craig is one of the few strategists to have won the Grand Prix at APG, The Marketing Society and Marketing Week Engage Awards. One day he will win the Grand Prix at the IPA Effectiveness Awards and retire immediately. Until then, the work goes on.

Sophie Pemberton

Sophie’s background in media has been predominantly agency side in communications planning. She started out at Carat before moving to MEC and then to MGOMD in comms planning managing a variety of accounts from TfL to B&Q to TSB. Sophie then decided she wanted to focus her efforts into one area of media. After 6 years agency side, Sophie joined Talon in 2015 as Planning Director on OMD but soon moved into strategy in order to work across the agency portfolio and help drive smarter Out of Home planning. She is currently Strategy Director with a particular focus on developing data led solutions to planning and keeping pace with opportunities that the digitisation of OOH creates. She has worked directly on various clients including Google, Disney, Boots, VW Group and Global Radio.

Sarah Walker

Head of Business Planning, Essence

As Head of Business Planning at Essence, Sarah advises the world’s leading brands on how to most effectively determine and deploy their total media investment, ensuring the application of rigour and consistency in the way we plan and buy media around the globe. Prior to Essence she spent 7 years at Kantar, most recently as Global Director for Digital Behaviour Analytics, leading the development and automation of modelling products to predict movements in brand equity. Before that, Sarah ran Millward Brown's Global Neuromarketing Practice. A graduate of WPP's Marketing Fellowship, Sarah has worked in strategic planning roles in London, New York and Cape Town, and holds a PhD in experimental psychology from the University of Cambridge.

Richard Simkins

Richard Simkins joined Exterion Media, Europe’s largest privately held Out-of-Home company, in December 2017 as the newly created role of Creative Solutions Director. Richard is responsible for leading and growing the Creative Solutions team and ensuring the company is at the forefront of the industry through delivering award-winning, innovative creative work with its partners, including TfL and multiple franchises. Prior to joining Exterion Media, Richard was Head of Innovation at Talon Outdoor. In his role at Talon he built a new innovations team and led creative OOH solutions, interactive digital OOH campaigns and experiential activity for the company. Alongside his team’s commercial success, he played a key role in developing award-winning campaigns, such as Pepsi Max’s Unbelievable Bus Shelter and the Oreo Eclipse campaigns. Prior to Talon, Simkins was Hyperspace Business Director at Posterscope, developing creative advertising solutions for the company’s innovations and technology division.

After leaving South Africa for pastures new in the late 90s, Dallas has been in the OOH market place for the last 17 years with JCDecaux in the UK. Dallas’s passion experience and understanding of the OOH market place has helped JCDecaux secure key working relationships with Specialists, Agencies and Clients over the years. His strong background in Trading and Commercial Platforms has helped him to lead the business in implementing inventory management systems, trading platforms and the recent audience and media planning tool SmartBrics. Before joining JCDecaux Dallas worked for a family business in the manufacturing sector. Home Life Dallas is married to Maria and has two children. When Dallas is not focusing on the ‘new digital world’ for JCDecaux, he can be found spending many a hour on the golf course honing his swing . Dallas has run numerous marathons and loves to challenge himself physically and mentally be it running, cycling or both. Sport is definitely a key part of his every-day life and he can be often found on weekends coaching, supporting or even refereeing his sons local football team. Dallas is also part of a mentoring program for young aspiring sports stars.

Ocean Outdoor has built a leading reputation as a pioneer in the Digital Out of Home industry specilaising in super premium screens in premium locations. Ocean has developed this reputation through working with some major public and private landlords including manchester City Council, Birmingham City Council, Westfield and mosr recently Landsec on the relaunch of the worlds most iconic screen the Piccadilly lights.

Naren Patel

CEO, Primesight

Naren joined Primesight in 1991 as a Financial Analyst and a few years later – having IPO’d the business on the London Stock Exchange – aged 31, he was one of the youngest MDs of a listed company. In late 2009, Primesight acquired Titan’s billboard portfolio, and moved Primesight to the leading player in the billboard sector of the UK OOH market. 2017 saw the rollout of InLinkUK and further product development in Primesight Airports. In 2016 Primesight won Media Week’s Media Brand of the Year and Campaign’s Outdoor Sales Team of the Year. Naren is a Council member and ex-Chairman for Outsmart (the OOH industry body), has been a Director of Route and is a NABS trustee. He enjoys cycling, golf, squash and running, and completed the London Marathon in 2016.
